Not sure what to do for your next Sculpt or Animation?

Start Brainstorming.

Write down every Idea or word that comes to mind when brainstorming, no matter how bizarre or seemingly pointless. When you take a step back and read through the words, Ideas for projects will jump to life because your Brain has the wonderful automatic need to “Connect” everything that is coming into it. When your Brain tries to make sense of the connections it imagines whole ideas and creates mental images by filling in gaps.

Here is a short list of random words. Just looking at them alone will get your creative spirit flowing. Your list should be MUCH larger, but don’t write a book of words and ideas, keep it to a page, where all words can be seen at a glance.

• Cane
• Cliff
• Loyal
• Computer
• Man
• Fighting
• Ancient Times
• Frog
  • Mix and match ideas and zero in on a theme.
    • Once you have a Theme, make a short list of the words and Ideas that connect best with the theme. If your theme ends up being a “Middle Ages fight scene” you can cut the word “Computer” from your list.
    • You can also Brainstorm a new list of words and ideas with your theme in mind.
  • Mix and match ideas again and make a shortlist of content ideas Based on theme
    • eg. Man standing over cliff watching battle, Two men fighting with a frog in the foreground watching , Alien Frogman wearing a knights armor and ready for battle, A frog frantically trying to escape the heat of battle as men fight above! Who knows, could make for a fun animation.

I used this same process for trying to find a name for this blog. revolving around an industry based theme. I ended up focusing on “Pixels” and “Polygons’ as keywords and brainstormed from there.

You can also use Mind Mapping as a form of brainstorming, if you can really get into it, Mind mapping is one of the most effect ways to take notes or brainstorm as it works like the mind, connecting ideas! I especially recommend it for those who know they are Visual learners.
